Leigh Berry, RSW/MSW

Mental Health Counsellor

Leigh is a Registered Social Worker, trained Holistic Nutritionist, and Mom to two little souls who are currently her biggest teachers. She is equally excited and challenged by her own journey to shift how she relates to her emotions, food, and the practice of connecting with her authentic self daily. Leigh has been registered with the College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers since 2010, and completed her Master of Social Work from the University of Toronto.

Leigh strongly believes that when we can go inward and create space to know and turn towards our true self, that this provides the ultimate platform for healing to take place.  She has shared experience navigating fertility treatments, birth/parenting during the early pandemic, feeding and postpartum mental health challenges, transitions into motherhood, as well as adjustment with return to work.  In her work with clients, Leigh strives to provide a safe space that fosters an intuitive ability for growth and healing. At the same time, she holds high regard for the energetic presence that she brings to each session.  This involves an empathic, trauma-informed and non-judgemental approach that is accepting and genuine.

Leigh is a client-centred and holistic practitioner integrating aspects of dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), mindfulness-based therapies, including mindful emotional eating (MEE), as well as somatic and internal family systems (IFS) therapies based on clients’ unique needs.  Leigh see’s each client as the expert of their own experiences, and honours the strengths that each client carries within them.  She supports a range of different needs including, mood & anxiety, addiction, ADHD, emotional eating, health & nutrition, difficulties in interpersonal relationships, and family dynamics. She is deeply passionate about maternal/parental wellbeing, focusing her practice on working with Moms who feel at the whim of their emotions- disconnected, lost, alone, anxious, overwhelmed, uncertain, sad or depressed, and stressed; and struggling with transitions in their motherhood journey. There are often past experiences of personal trauma, challenges with self-doubt, self-criticism, and a strong desire to feel better to feel good enough.  Through her eclectic approach, Leigh aims to guide clients home to themselves, to feel a greater sense of inner connection and alignment, living from a place of ease, confidence, and trust.

Leigh’s services are covered by most extended health benefits plans as a Registered Social Worker. Please check with your insurance provider to ensure reimbursement.  She sees individual clients (teens over the age of 16 and adults) providing virtual psychotherapy services in English.
